More malware threats on Mac than Windows.

Did you think Macs were less vulnerable to malware than Windows? You probably are not alone if you have been of that opinion.

Passed Windows
But "the tables are turned". According to a new report, there are now more malware threats to MacOS than to PCs. For every Windows threat, two Mac threats were detected in 2019.

That's what Malwarebytes, a company that produces antivirus software, claims.

According to the report, the number of Mac threats should have increased by 400 percent in 2019, compared with 2018.

More attractive platform to attack
Malwarebytes believes that some of the increase is due to the fact that Macs have gained popularity and thus become a more attractive platform to attack.

However, Windows and Mac do not necessarily face the same threats. According to the report, Mac is most vulnerable to adware and so-called "PUPs," or "potentially unwanted programs," in Norwegian. The latter category involves cleaning programs such as "MacKeeper" and "MacBooster".
