We have seen more stable versions than KB4532693.

Bleeping Computer reports that one of the latest rollup updates for Windows 10 with version number KB4532693 has caused a number of problems for users. The update became available for Windows 10 in both edition 1909 and 1903.

The desktop is cleared and the user settings return to the default
First and foremost, the update causes errors in loading the correct user profile and restores both desktop settings and start menu to default.

Users are constantly complaining that their usual user profile and associated settings are gone, that the desktop is empty of content and those other settings are set to factory defaults.

Turn the machine off and on
So far, it's not just bad news: Bleeping Computer writes that the update doesn't delete your information, but rather stores an unrelated location to then upload a temporary user profile.

That means you can breathe out. To try to retrieve your profile you should go to C: \ Users and look for a profile that has the end name .bak or .000.

If you do not want to bother with this then it may be good to know that some have also made it by turning the machine on and off a few times.

Microsoft has not commented on the complaints in KB4532693 yet.
