Samsung has developed virtual keyboard - to be shown in January

But you don't see the keyboard in front of you.

At CES in January 2020, Samsung will demonstrate a new project called "SelfieType".

This is a new technology that utilizes an AI algorithm and the selfie camera to give you access to a virtual keyboard.

In other words, you can type on your phone without physically touching the screen.

"SelfieType does not require any extra hardware and it is very easy to customize it to different mobile devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops," Samsung writes on its website.

This is not the first time a tech company has put out a virtual keyboard. For example, Lenovo introduced a similar concept in 2015, called "Smart Cast."

But how practical is that, really?
Unlike Smart Cast, SelfieType will not project the keys, so in reality you have to type without seeing the keyboard in front of you. That sounds like a potential challenge. How to write accurately without seeing each key?

How Samsung may have solved this challenge, we will see in January, when CES kicks off (January 7-10).
