Microsoft has already refurbished the Office icons, but the company doesn't stop there.
100 Windows icons have now been refurbished. They have been given new colors and designs and are now in line with the Fluent Design principles. Microsoft has even described the work in a post on Medium.
“With the latest wave of design changes for icons, we encountered two major creative challenges,” explains Jon Friedman, Vice President of Design and Research at Microsoft.
“We had to signal innovation and change while also recognizing customers. We also had to develop a flexible and open design system to cover a wide range of contexts, while remaining true to Microsoft. "

Most icons have received minor design changes. The difference is best illustrated when the icons are displayed side by side. There is now a more coherent design principle across all product categories.
The Windows logo has also been refurbished, without any dramatic change. The logo now has slightly more rounded corners and new colors.
