It wasn't "Little" anyway.
It wasn't "Little" anyway.
Today, it is clear for Microsoft's big Surface event in New York. Both Surface Pro 7, Laptop 3 and an ARM-based Surface two-in-one laptop are expected.
"Windows 10X"
But now the notorious delicatessen Evan Blass has shared details about something completely different. For as we know, Microsoft is working on a simplified and easier Windows variant. Previously, this OS has been referred to as Windows "Lite", but according to Blass, the name instead becomes Windows 10X. Or as Thurrot's Mehedi Hassan calls it on Twitter: "Windows 10 Ten".
"Centaurus" -unveiling?
Windows 10X is built for things that consist of multiple screens as well as foldable devices. It is a Windows version built on the more modular Windows Core OS platform.
Rumor has it that we will see such a unit tonight. It's the rumored "Centaurus" device in question, and according to Blass, this machine runs Windows 10X.
Virtual apps
The new operating system supposedly runs apps in "containers", which means that most apps are virtual and run over the Internet and not from the local hardware on the device.
The event kicks off at 4pm today. We follow it all continuously.
