Google will notify you if your password is stolen

Data breaches take place every single day, every hour and every minute. It is certainly not easy to travel safely on the internet in 2019.

Do like Mozilla
But now Google will at least make it a little easier for you to find out if you've been a victim of an attack. Chrome will soon offer a feature that will alert you if you use an email address, username or password stolen by hackers.

This will not work so unlike Firefox's Monitor service, which through a partnership with Have I Been Pwned will alert you when you enter login details that have been involved in a data breach.

Passwords on the way
According to Google data, 1.5 percent of passwords are on the Internet. Surveys also show that only 26 percent of those who are notified that their password is missing are actually changing their passwords afterward. Still, the number is high enough that Google considers this notification appropriate. Therefore, the feature is now being implemented in Chrome.

The new notification system is not ready yet, so it may take some time for the feature to be available to all Chrome users. If you want to check out the feature already, you can do so with canary version 78 by searching for "leak" via chrome: // flags.
