The Office Online package will no longer have the word "Online" in it.

According to Microsoft, the apps - "relatively soon" - will only be called Office.

"Because our offerings have evolved to provide access to apps on more than just one platform, using platform-specific sub-brand names no longer makes sense," Microsoft Product Marketing Manager Bill Doll wrote in a blog post.

Word Online and Excel Online will also be called only "Word" and "Excel".

The same applies to the rest of the Office applications in the Online package, except Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and Office Online Server, which are allowed to keep "Online".
