The remaining Apple 1 copies are few, but they are sold for huge sums.

Earlier this month, a well-functioning Apple 1 appeared in an auction in the UK.

One of the world's first PCs
It was expected that the machine, which was launched in 1976, could go for as much as NOK 5.5 million when it was to be auctioned off. So high was not the price, but the final result of $ 471,000, just over $ 4 million, is still a most useful sales sum for the aging machine, which only has 4KB RAM and a 1MHz processor.

When Apple 1 was launched in 1976, it cost $ 666.66, which equates to about $ 34,000 at today's rate.

Worth a lot of money
Apple 1 machines have gone for very varied sales sums in recent years. Some have been sold for a few hundred thousand, while others have gone for several million kroner. For example, three years ago, an Apple 1 machine was sold for over $ 7 million, according to The Mirror.

The particular machine, in this case, was originally acquired by Rick Conte in 1977, one year after the machine came on the market. He donated the Apple 1 to a non-profit organization in 2009, before being acquired by a private collector in 2010. In September 2014, the machine again got a new owner, who now chose to auction it away.

Special edition
The machine was a "golden nugget" in several ways: firstly, the well-functioning machine was built into a suitcase. Second, the buyer got some extras, including "an extremely rare manual" from Apple. In addition, the buyer received a Panasonic cassette recorder and a Motorola microprocessor. See the complete list of included content here.
