Last night, Qualcomm announced figures for the previous quarter as well as forecasting revenue for the coming quarter. From the forecasts, you get a picture of how much Apple must have paid to pay Qualcomm in connection with the settlement they made a few weeks back, and it's a hefty sum.

cash Payout
Of the total income, between $ 4.5 and $ 4.7 billion are expected to come directly from Apple in the form of cash payment in addition to paying other liabilities. The sum amounts to around NOK 40 billion.

The agreement between Apple and Qualcomm involves a six-year deal where Qualcomm will be the supplier of modem chips for future Apple devices.

Would not enter amounts
It was in mid-April that Qualcomm announced that they had come to an agreement after a long period of litigation back and forth. Apple stated the time that there should be a payout from their company to the chipmaker, but they did not want to account for the sum.

This, of course, led to speculation, where an analyst estimated the sum to be between five and six billion dollars.

Either way, Apple now looks pleased to have put in place a solution with the company, where Tim Cook yesterday said it feels good to have laid the conflict behind and that it will be beneficial for both parties.
