WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has today been arrested by the British police (Metropolitan Police Service, MPS).

Withdrew the residence permit
According to the police, Assange was removed from the embassy as a consequence of the Ecuadorian authorities having withdrawn asylum and thus no longer wishing to offer him protection.

Currently, the WikiLeaks founder will be in custody in the London police station, waiting to be set over the Westminister Magistrates court.

Stayed in the embassy since 2012
In 2012, Assange sought refuge in Ecuador's embassy, where he has since been granted residence. Recently, however, conflicts have emerged, where Ecuador's President Lenin Moreno has stated that Assange has repeatedly violated asylum conditions. In a video that the Ecuadorian president has posted on his Twitter account, he gives examples in both electronics and other tools that Assange has installed, but which should be in violation of the policy of the stay.

It was known in 2017 that the rape case against him was dropped, but that British police still had the authority to arrest him as a result of Assange having evaded legal prosecution.

We follow the case.
