In a chronicle published in The Washington Post, Mark Zuckerberg asks for help in the fight for better privacy and counteracting harmful content.

 

Want "global GDPR"
The Facebook boss points to four areas: malicious content, choice integrity. privacy and data storage. Zuckerberg now wants more stringent regulations in place. That's what he thinks like Apple's CEO, Tim Cook.

 

"Effective privacy and data protection need a globally harmonized framework. People all over the world have called for extensive privacy policy in line with EU GDPR legislation. I agree. I think it would be good for the internet if several countries made a regulation like GDPR into a common framework. New privacy regulations in the US and in the rest of the world should be built on the basis of GDPR's protection. It should protect your right to decide how your information is used, "writes Zuckerberg in the chronicle.

 

So even though Zuckerberg is positive about GDPR, he believes that a common framework for the whole world would be even better.

 

"I also believe that a common global framework, rather than regulation that varies from country to state, will ensure that the Internet is not destroyed".

 

- Facebook has a responsibility
However, he believes that Facebook alone cannot solve the challenges.

 

"I think Facebook has a responsibility to address this and I look forward to discussing this with lawmakers around the world. We've built advanced systems to find malicious content, stop selection, and make ads more transparent. But people should not just lean on that individual companies grasp these issues on their own, ”writes Zuckerberg, who then throws the ball forward.
