Microsoft: - China hacked critical US infrastructure

Microsoft reveals that the Chinese hacker group "Volt Typhoon", which according to the company is supported by the Chinese authorities, carried out a critical hacker attack against the United States.

Gained access

The hacker group has been active since the summer of 2021 and has the task of destroying the communication technology between the US and Asia. The serious thing is that Microsoft says the hackers have gained access to critical American infrastructure.

The aim of the hacker group is to create communication problems during a possible future crisis. The company is now urging all affected accounts to close their accounts or change their passwords. At the same time, Microsoft reports that the hackers still have opportunities to gain access to online security systems.

Big attack

“Under this action, affected organizations span the communications, manufacturing, supply, transport, construction, maritime, government, information technology and education sectors. Observed behavior suggests that the threat actor intends to perform espionage and maintain access undetected for as long as possible.”
