Will media giant and distributor in the same package.

AT & T is perhaps best known as one of America's biggest telephone companies, but also owns including satellite television company DirectTV, whose subscribers get free data to look at the AT & T network.

In competition from Netflix becomes increasingly important for telecommunications companies also have their own content, such as shown by US Verizon's acquisition of AOL and Yahoo.

Game of Thrones and superheroes
Thus, buying AT & T content producer Time Warner, including HBO (HBO and its own pouring service HBO Now and HBO), CNN and film studio Warner Brothers - which owns DC Comics and stock superhero movies about Batman and Superman.

The price is staggering 85 billion dollars, or 680 billion Norwegian crowns, and comes after Time Warner has been a takeover candidate in a while without having received adequate bids.

Apple was interested
Among other things, Apple has sniffed content producer, but the talks never got up to CEO level. Apple is also regarded as a company that could combine distribution and content production and thus compete with for example Netflix, which runs from height to height.

One of the major issues for the trade, if it gets government approval in the United States, if this will cause customers to AT & T gets special treatment in the telecommunications network and free data to flow such as HBO or CNN, so they are already getting to flow DirecTV content in the United States.

A generation without TV
The main priority for the new company are now finding new ways to reach consumers, in light of that a whole generation has stopped watching linear TV and instead uses user flow services like Netflix.

It would fit well with AT & T, which in addition to being a telecommunications organization also is big on broadband and that said owner DirecTV.
