Sources 9to5Mac has spoken to reveal that Apple is about to secure NextVR.

Apple continues to expand its top-secret VR and AR plans
The company is not known in the gaming industry, as they instead focused on the direct streaming of events in AR and VR.

They do not create VR headsets, but they produce VR experiences for Playstation, Oculus, HTC, Microsoft, and Lenovo, to name a few.
Apple has been trying to highlight AR for many years and the new iPad Pro models take this a step further with LiDAR, but the complete plan Apple envisions is hard to make any sense yet and AR has far from taking off.

NextVR had to cut sharply last year
NextVR is far from a startup as they have been selling their video services for ten years already.

It is quite uncommon for Apple to acquire relatively large and established companies, so the company will have to possess technology Apple would very much like to use in future products, such as the rumored AR glasses.

9to5Mac believes that the technology Apple is most interested in, of over 40 patents NextVR owns, is the most exciting upscaling of video to the headsets.
