Apple recalls power adapters

Six people received an electrical shock from them.

Apple has announced that it will revoke power adapters sold in the UK, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

The reason is several incidents where people have gained power as a result of broken plugs.

Only old adapters
These adapters were sold with both Macs, iPhone, iPad, and iPods. The recall does not apply to the adapters sold with the latest models. This only applies to old models that were delivered with the above-mentioned products between 2003-2010, or through Apple's official travel kit.

Apple points out that the recall is voluntary, but recommends all customers not to use these adapters.

"Because customers' security is our top priority, Apple asks our customers to stop using the affected adapters," Apple said in a statement.

How to check if your adapter can be dangerous
The affected adapters are white and have no print on them. If you are unsure if you have a dangerous adapter, check out the pictures and the rest of the details on Apple's website.

Here in Norway, such adapters are not used, but you may still have such a model if you have been traveling.

You need the serial number for either Mac, iPad, iPhone, or iPod to find out if your adapter is affected. Should your adapter be one of those that pose a risk, you will be able to replace it through customer support - either online, at an Apple Store, or Apple Authorized Reseller.
