Google shuts down new product

“The podcast app is just one of many great Google products that are dying. And if Google ever wants us to believe their promises again, this has to stop,” stated a critical and fed-up David Pierce, editor at The Verge.

Google One VPN will disappear in a few months

We wrote that on 2 April in connection with the closure of the company's dedicated Podcast app. Instead, customers must use YouTube Music or import their podcast library into a third-party service.

Now Google has retired another product: Google One VPN, launched in 2020. We wrote about the launch of the product in Norway in November of the following year:

"It was in December last year that we first heard about Google's own VPN service in connection with the launch of updated Google One. Back then the VPN service wasn't included in the paid package, but now it is (yes, you have to pay for the One to get the VPN service), although not right now as Google says they are only a few days away from launch. For VPN access, a member with the 2TB package or higher is required.”

Above 9To5Google, the company explains that the service is being removed because it did not have enough users. It is not known exactly when the service will disappear, but it should happen in the coming months. Instead, Google will focus on services in the One package that are more in demand. There is no question of shutting down the VPN service for the Pixel.
