Co-founder of OpenAI, Greg Brockman, has announced important improvements to ChatGPT on Twitter. There is also a press release for the major improvement.

Extensions and interaction with the web

First and foremost: support for extensions. This means that anyone can extend the functionality of ChatGPT. Brockman states that a smaller group of users and developers get first.

 

The second big improvement is that the chat platform will now for the first time be able to retrieve real-time data from the web. It is a potential "game changer."

There are already extensions in place

Extensions will also be allowed to surf the web, but also be active against specific websites. The Verge points out that this can make ChatGPT an interface to a bunch of services and websites.

 

The company also states that other services will be able to use ChatGPT as their "eyes and ears."

 

Extensions already in place:

• Expedia

• OpenTable

• Kayaking

• Klarna Shopping

• Zapier

OpenAI also has its own extensions: a browser and a code interpreter.

Microsoft's integration of ChatGPT 4 in Bing already retrieves information from the web, but OpenAI goes further and can perform tasks determined by the user, who will therefore be able to use the service to not only find the hotel or flight departure but also book it.
