You have to write a lot to degrade below 70 percent

During our test period, it was obviously not long enough, i.e. a lot of data written, to discover that the health is deteriorating - it requires a lot more use, or does it?

 

The Windows blog Neowin has written about its experiences with the NVM losing far too many health points (where 100 percent is best), in a very short time.

 

Just a couple of days after the trade, I noticed that the health according to the S.M.A.R.T data from “Samsung Magician” and third-party tools showed 99 percent. For the record, I have other Samsung SSDs with over 40TB written and still at 99 percent health 1.5 years later.

 

Another owner reports that the disk is two weeks old, 1.6TB has been written and the health is at 94 percent.

 

Hopefully, this is a reporting issue in the software, but that remains to be seen.

 

Degradation of only 1 percent after a few days of use is not common
Samsung? They initially stated that everything was OK and that it stood for product quality, but after many customers reported health as low as 64 percent with only 2TB written to the device, they are now taking action.

 

To the same website, Samsung states:

 

"Samsung is investigating suspicious symptoms and will keep you updated on its progress."
