Microsoft promises to make Windows 11 faster

The Windows developers have launched a so-called AUA session (Ask Us Anything) where they have received and answered a bunch of questions from users. From what has been discussed, the main essence is that the team envisages making Windows 11 performance a focus area for development and improvement during 2022.

Better startup and interface
The issue was raised when some complained about what they thought were slow menus and transitions in the Windows 11 interface. The developers responded quickly by confirming that this is something they are actively working on, and which will be even more central in their work in 2022.

This means that users of Windows 11 in 2022 should expect changes in the 22H2 update that particularly positively affect the interface and performance.

Performance will be an area of focus for us in 2022. A lot of that focus will go into startup/launch perf; in terms of UI elements rendering on the screen (after the framework is loaded), we’ve tested the scalability of doing things like putting 10k buttons on the screen, etc.

Most of the UI elements render pretty quickly already, but it would be good to understand if there are specific UI element scaling/slowness issues you’re experiencing and we could take a look into that specific scenario.

Takes feedback more seriously
Neowin reports that active Windows developers have shown a tendency to become more receptive to feedback in recent times.

Another example in addition to what appears in the question round on Reddit is that Microsoft yesterday announced that they are rolling back Whiteboard to the UWP version that existed before the changes, as the new one was plagued by performance issues and lacked several features.

The question round can be read here.
