Google extends "Find My Device" with bluetooth support

"Find my gadgets" networks such as Apple's "Find my", Tile and Samsung's Smart Tags are a growing trend.

Down in the crack
From global tracking to find the keys that have wedged between two sofa cushions, this is what networks like "Find my" from Apple offer.

Those who use AirTags from Apple, Tile's chips, or Samsung's Smart Tags get help from all supported devices near what you want to track. That way, you do not have to depend on being near your wallet or keychain to find it again.

Technologies that continue to be on mobile data and wifi are limited to both short battery life and coverage in order to report back their position.

Now it seems that Android will also build support for Bluetooth in "Find my device" and in that way record the battle with Apple and Samsung on "gadget tracking".

Spot
9to5mac has found references to a new API called "Spot", with this enabled you will get a new option for tracking devices via Google's network. Although the numbers vary somewhat, the market share between iOS and Android is roughly divided in the middle here in Norway, Great Britain, and the USA. While in countries such as Brazil, Turkey, and India, Android has a market share of 85%.

Globally, figures from businessofapps.com say that Android has an active user base of 2.8 billion worldwide.

Google has so far not commented on the case or mentioned Spot in any official context.
