The advertising industry's nightmare is here: developers can download iOS 14.5

Apple has finally launched macOS Big Sur 11.2 in the final version after they last week launched iOS 14.4 and updated all the other OSes, except macOS which was updated today.

iOS 14.5 is the advertising industry's great horror
But it's iOS 14.5 that's on everyone's lips at the moment, and the reason is not that it's closed a big security hole or big new features, but a privacy feature that blocks tracking like this:

All Apple OS are out in new beta versions, except macOS
The update scares Facebook as this will directly damage the company's revenue as tracking users and displaying ads is more valuable than an anonymous surfer.

If the user notifies that he or she does not want to be tracked, the app does not get the unique IDFA (Identity for Advertisers) tracking code and other ways to track users. If the developer breaks this rule, they risk being thrown out of the App Store.

Here are the other new trial versions for developers:

  • iOS 14.5 beta 1- 18E5140j
  • iPadOS 14.5 beta 1 - 18E5140j
  • watchOS 7.4 beta 1- 18T5144k
  • tvOS 14.5 beta 1 - 18L5149j
