Follows in Instagram's footsteps.
Follows in Instagram's footsteps.
Instagram began earlier this year: in a total of seven countries, the number of "likes" no longer appears on posts.
Now Facebook is considering doing the same.
Want to test in the news stream
It was Jane Manchun Wong who first discovered that Facebook is considering hiding the number of likes. She found a prototype of the change in the Android edition of the Facebook app.
In retrospect, Facebook has confirmed that they are considering experimenting with this.
According to TechCrunch, which has been in contact with Facebook, the company does not want to say anything about the intention or when the change may take effect. So far, at least the change has not been enabled for users.
You will probably see the number of your posts
When Instagram (Read: Facebook) announced the change earlier this year, the rationale was to make it easier "for your followers to focus on the photos and videos you share, not how many" likes "they get."
On Instagram, it works so you can see the number of likes on your own posts, but not others. It is obvious to think that Facebook is going for a similar solution for its users.
