The American mobile provider AT&T today created headlines by now offering cryptocurrency as payment. They are the first big telephone company to go out with such support, and this time it applies to the most well-established currency, namely Bitcoin.

 

Customers can thus pay their bills online with their money in cryptocurrency. The transactions are made through the payment service BitPay.

 

The crypto market is still lukewarm
It remains to be seen how widespread this is among AT&T's customers - and whether other large mobile suppliers follow suit. Analysts currently believe that cryptocurrency is generally too unstable as a means of payment, and losses can quickly go either way for either the payer or the recipient if the market goes up or down quickly.
