You should not find using another Netflix viewing browser

Retains what made Old Edge unique.

Retains what made Old Edge unique.

You've long been wondering what will find your way to new Edge and what won't when the browser is rebuilt and based on Google's Chromium platform. Large parts of the new edition have already leaked, and many have pointed out that the browser now lacks some features that were unique to Edge.

Only browser with 4K capability on Netflix
The most important was perhaps the support for 4K playback on Netflix, which since 2016 has only been possible on Microsoft's browser. All other browsers have been limited to 720p playback, while Internet Explorer has performed 1080p. The novelty of the whole thing is that the new Edge also gets similar support so that you can enjoy Netflix content in 4K.

Of course, you still need to have the Intel processor from the Kaby Lake series or later, or the Nvidia video card from the GTX 1000 series or better. The information is found by people at Reddit, where you have dug up information about both Widevine and PlayReady. It is the latter that allows 4K streaming through a hardware-based DRM system.

No support for reading e-books
In other Edge news, Neowin tells you not to expect e-book reading support in the new browser, which can be a disadvantage for many.
