Predicts huge drop in prices for RAM and SSD next year

DRAMeXchange, a subdivision of TrendForce, claims we will see a sharp fall in prices for RAM and SSD next year.

Declining demand
Earlier reports have already claimed that we will see something similar in the fourth quarter of this year. However, for 2019 the great prophecy applies. If DRAMeXchange is right, prices may be reduced by as much as 15-20 percent.

The reason for the expected upcoming fall in prices is compounded, according to DRAMeXchange, Fall in smartphone sales this year and uncertainty about Intel's deliveries of CPUs next year could be two triggering reasons.

If the demand for servers and smartphones drop further, we will be able to get an even greater drop in prices than initially assumed. In that case, 15-20 percent in price reduction can only be a beginning, DRAMeXchange believes, based on market analyzes.

We have already seen that the price of SSDs has fallen this fall:

Samsung will keep prices up
Cheaper RAM and SSD will be good news, especially for PC builders, who for a long time have had to see increasing prices for these parts.

However, it is part of history that Samsung, a world leader in the production of RAM and SSD chips, is preparing to calm down production, in an attempt to keep prices up.

Thus, it remains to see if DRAMeXchange's predictions still turn on.

Do you believe that prices are falling?
