Recently, a new version of an old error has been discovered that can crash almost any Windows PC, just by opening a webpage or viewing an ad.

Crashes your PC
"The problem is how the NTFS driver handles special file names, in this case the $ MFT name, which is one of the special metadata files used in the NTFS file system in Windows," explains MSPowerUser.

Usually this is hidden for users and most of software, but if it forms part of a directory name, Windows will lock the file and thus make the system unavailable. This can cause the machine to crash or to force a reboot.

Does not ramble Windows 10
Several browsers block these URLs, however, Internet Explorer appears to be one of those who gladly fails the addresses. Microsoft is aware of the problem, but so far there is no update available to fix this.

Windows 10 is not affected by the error, but it is Windows Vista, 7, and 8.1.
