Shows support for new bill on encryption.

FBI boss James Comey said yesterday that the agency only managed to access about half of the mobile devices they tried to solve during the first half of the fiscal year.

Are in talks with the manufacturers
According to TechCrunch, Comey stated that the FBI has failed to unlock more than 3000 devices using what is described as "appropriate and available technical tools."

The statements should indicate that he supports a new bill that wants to force phone manufacturers to offer a backdoor to the authorities, TechCrunch reports.

Not a dedicated back door, but
He further said that the FBI has had open and good conversations with the private sector over the last few months.

"Everyone loves privacy, we care about the security of the general public and neither of us wants backdoors - we do not want access to devices to be built into the devices. We would like to work with the manufacturers to find out how we can accommodate the interests of Bows in a sensible way, "said Comey.

The FBI director suggested, among other things, that manufacturers could make a way into the government departments without creating a backdoor.

"Frankly, I do not know where we are going to end up. I can see for myself that it ends with a law that states that if you want to create units in the United States, one has to figure out how to enforce court orders. Or maybe we do not get there, but we have productive conversations now, I feel. "

What do you mean? Should manufacturers provide access to police authorities?
