Microsoft blocks CPU updates - how you can bypass the barrier

But the company will probably also close this gap.

But the company will probably also close this gap.

Last year, Microsoft announced that in the future, newer processors will not receive updates on older versions of Windows. Recently this took effect.

Bypass the barrier
This means that people with Windows 7 and 8.1 will not receive updates to, for example, Intel Kaby Lake. Dull for those with new hardware and who do not want Windows 10.

The GitHub user "zeffy" has succeeded in getting past the barrier to Microsoft. He has published four "patch scripts" that update the Windows DLL files so the system tricks to believe that the processors are still supported.

Thus, users with Windows 7 and 8.1 and newer processors can still receive hardware updates.

At your own risk
So it's time to see how long it goes before Microsoft also seals this hole.

If you want to check out the work of "zeffy", you can find the GitHub link at the bottom of this article. As it is not an official launch, the installation will take place at your own risk.
