Microsoft removes this word.

Microsoft removes this word.

The Office Online package will no longer have the word "Online" in it.

According to Microsoft, the apps - "relatively soon" - will only be called Office.

"Because our offerings have evolved to provide access to apps on more than just one platform, using platform-specific sub-brand names no longer makes sense," Microsoft Product Marketing Manager Bill Doll wrote in a blog post.

When referring to the service in the future, the company will use phrases such as "Office for the web", "Office for Windows", Office for Android, and so on.

Does not apply to these services
Word Online and Excel Online will also be called only "Word" and "Excel".

The same applies to the rest of the Office applications in the Online package, except Exchange Online, SharePoint Online and Office Online Server, which are allowed to keep "Online".
