Upgrade your operating system to continue playing.

Earlier this year, Valve announced that it will drop Steam support for both Windows XP and Vista as of January 1, 2019. Therefore, if you want to continue playing Steam games then you have to incentivize upgrading your computer to newer software.

End the support
Steam has decided to end the support due to an ever-decreasing number of users on these operating systems, where XP and Vista users together make up less than one percent of users on the platform. Also, the decision argued in some new Steam features is dependent on a specific version of Google Chrome that XP and Vista users have to look far behind.

So far this year, the users of the old operating systems have had the opportunity to use the platform to a limited extent, where it has been possible to play games but not to use some services and features, including Steam Chat.

Avast does the same
It is not the first time XP and Vista users in recent times experience losing access to programs and services due to their highly outdated systems: earlier in 2018, the antivirus provider announced Avast that they stop updating their software for the two old operating systems, this also comes into effect from today.
