First time in five years.

In a media blog post, Microsoft writes that for the first time since 2013, a design change has been made on the icons of the Office programs.

modernized
There has been a lot of change since then, and now Microsoft selects to represent these changes in design on the new icons with a modernization.

Focusing on separating letters and symbols from each other, Microsoft has for example removed text lines with simple lines that will indicate a document and green cells to mark the good old Excel cells.

Microsoft has also published a video to view the changes. They say that the focus of the new performance has been to separate the letter and the symbol into two panels that can work both separately and in pairs.

In addition, the size ratio has changed compared to before: in the old icons, the letter is two-thirds while this is diminished now so the letter will represent the tool and the symbol speaks more for the creative solutions.
